After successfully maneuvering through the process of nonprofit formation, PATHS feels strongly that the benefits of social involvement beyond the basic bake sale are vitally important. In expanding key skills that range from leadership development to financial oversight to international relations, students are able to engage in the critical lessons of philanthropic endeavors.
Empower! Communities
The PATHS team evaluated its initiatives and found their intended holistic approach lacking: With drought and economic hardships constant sources of worry, parents are often unable to provide food, never mind pay for testing and secondary school fees. Empower! therefore targets community interest programs in an attempt to combat the poverty of both the wallet and the mind. In order to encourage forward-thinking communities with goals of educational support, Empower initiatives create avenues for parents to provide themselves with financial freedom.
Expand! School Programming
With class sizes sometimes numbering over 50, students lack the vital individual attention necessary for success. Similarly, teachers often have both the passion and the patience but not always the resources or experience with specialized methods to address the challenges of teaching in underfunded, overcrowded schools. Other extenuating circumstances such as malnutrition and a lack of family funds for school uniforms can hinder a student from reaching his-or-her full potential.
